SYRIA
Syria is located in Southwestern Asia,(Best
know as the Middle East); it covers an area of 71,498 square miles.
Regarding the population: the Syrian census of 1994 found 13,800,000
inhabitants. ( Source for this info is Al-Ba'ath, Newspapre, February
6, 1995, p 4.) Arabic is the official language, spoken by everyone;
French and English are common. You can also hear Kurdish, Armenian,
Aramic, Circassian, in some of the areas in Syria.
